Scaffolds or matrices based on extracellular matrix (ECM)-inspired biomaterials play a central role in the repair of tissue damage. Cell matrices can optimise the physiologically relevant 3D microenvironment of the cells and prevent graft cell death.

New hydrogel based on recombinant peptide

Leveraging on Fujifilm’s recombinant peptide based on human collagen type I, a methacrylated formulation has been developed for hydrogels. Crosslinking and gelling will take place during exposure with visible light and in the presence of a photoinitiator. Cells can be mixed with the RCPhC1-MA solution before gelation. This will create a physiologically relevant micro-environment for cells.
