Earlier parenting was heavily influenced by the elder and more experienced members in the family. If the elder first cousin was enrolled in any activity, then the younger kids of the family were also enforced to do the same. Today, the joint family discovered is rare. So parents rather than following their elders follow their peers. Thus if a precise mother enrolls her kid in any class or activity, the other mothers in her what’s app or Facebook group can imitate. And if another mother puts her kid in a Mandarin learning category, once more the peer pressure is going to be seen. This is what I call peer parenting.
